Annual High School Voice Competition
The Jonathan Angelone Memorial High School Vocal Competition
Next Competition Date: Sunday, October 23, 2016
The competition honors the legacy of Jonathan Angelone, who died of cancer at the age of 19 in 2006. A stand-out athlete at Brighton High School, Angelone was part of the school’s a capella group and performed in many school theater productions. Shortly before his death, Angelone established a foundation with the mission of raising awareness and encouraging early detection of cancer. He would have been thrilled to know that this competition is held in his memory. In support of Rochester Lyric Opera’s mission to find and encourage emerging talent, RLO is proud to sponsor the annual Jonathan Angelone Memorial High School Vocal Competition. Vocalists in grades 9-12 are able to compete each year for scholarship awards, as well as an opportunity to perform with RLO in a future program.
